I’m Amy and I am the owner of Thoughts of You, an award winning wedding florist. I am going to be blogging on the SoonlyWeds blog once a month covering lots of different topics involved with wedding flowers. As well as producing informative blogs I will also be featuring some of our real weddings and will be trying to help you with any questions you have about wedding flowers. If you have any questions which you would like answered please do let me know via social media or email, or you can contact one of the SoonlyWeds team.
So to start with lets tell you a little about me and my business. I live and work in North Shields which is a coastal town near Newcastle Upon Tyne. I have been a florist for (counts on fingers) almost 8 years! After training at college I worked at various different florists in the local area, learning a lot of what to do and a lot of what not to do in business, it was during this time when I decided to open my own florists. Having absolutely no business experience at all but a love of floristry and making people happy I opened Thoughts of You in 2013.
In 2015 my company was nominated (and won!) a regional wedding award for outstanding customer service, in 2016 we then reached the finals for the same award (we are hoping to be in the finals this year too), at this time we made the decision to close our florist shop and change from being a florists (producing flowers for all occasions) to being wedding only florists, I have to say it was a really easy decision, as was our recent move in premises to a much bigger space which gives us plenty loads of space to create lots of lovely wedding flowers for all of our lovely couples. If you have a look at our social media you will see some of the work we have been doing to the studio so far.
As I say this is the first of hopefully many blogs so over the next few months you will find out about some wedding flower trends, seasonal availability of flowers, colour schemes and what flowers are available in certain colours, some of our top tips and about wedding traditions. If you do have any questions please do let me know.
A huge thank you to Sandi and Amy of The White Jigsaw (www.thewhitejigsaw.co.uk) for allowing me to use the photos in this blog to be able to show you who I am, me at work and a little glimpse of some of our work.
